Established in 1993 and growing, we are a “mid-size” congregation, conservative in doctrine and worship -- liberal in love and giving.We are a traditional Southern Baptist Church. Our ministry statement is "Loving God and One Another, Sharing Jesus with the World.""

Committed to the Great Commandment, Loving God and one another, our worship is heart-felt. You will find that we actively practice prayer and offer a close-knit church family for people of all ages.

Have you thought about joining a Sunday School Class? You might be thinking, “Why should I? Or “What’s in it for me?”

Bible study at 9:00 a.m. every Sunday gives you a chance to learn more about God’s word, your relationship with him and your relationships with your family, neighbors and coworkers. As you grow closer to your fellow classmates, you’ll find that they become great friends and encouragers.


North Shelby Baptist Church is located on Double Oak Mountain off Highway 280.

From Birmingham, take Highway 280 East from I-459.
Go 6.6 miles over the crest of the mountain to Belcher Drive.
Turn right onto Belcher Drive; the campus is on a hill easily visible from Highway 280.

North Shelby Baptist welcomes you and your child.  Your child is special to us.  It is our desire to minister to your child’s spiritual, physical, and emotional needs.  Our rooms are divided by age and staffed by trained and loving caregivers.  We are committed to providing a warm, caring, and secure environment for your child.

2016 Mission Trips

India January 5– 12, 2016  

Team Leader: Harry Jeffcoat

Team Size: 5

Mission Description: Three day Bible conference at Baptist church in tea-garden district in eastern India; evening showings of JESUS film; sharing Jesus with and unreached unengaged people group.

WorldSong Missions Place March 28– April 1, 2016  

Team Leader: Chuck Schuelly

Mission Description: Help repair and better equip the camp, a ministry of Alabama WMU.

Greenfield, Wisconsin June 11– 18, 2016  

Team Leader: Jimmy Johnson

Team Size: 20

Mission Description: Builders for Christ project, constructing facilities for growing Southern Baptist Church in "pioneer" area. Our team installed the HVAC (heating and cooling unit). Team worked hard, ate great, enjoyed fellowship and accomplished much.

Curacao June 20– 27, 2016  

Team Leader: Alex Lovorn

Team Size: 20 Highschoolers

Mission Description: Our youth went to Curaçao to train our brothers and sisters in Christ on how to be a disciple and how to disciple others.  We trained adults who minister to youth on the subjects of teaching God’s word and  counseling teenagers, as well as encouraging them on their great responsibility and opportunity to sow the seed of the Gospel into the next generation. We led a youth rally to encourage students in Curaçao to participate in our weekend discipleship training to reach other students who may not know Christ. At the weekend camp, we studied God’s Word, prayed, and talked about barriers teens face when trying to follow Jesus. Our prayers were that teens would feeling confident in who they are in Christ, and lead others to follow Christ as well!

Ukraine July 8– 17, 2016  

Team Leader: Lyn Scarbrough

Mission Description: Team worked out of  Kharkov with the International Mission Board team doing    construction and renovation work at a church, and working with a VBS and a children’s activity program in the community. Team also worked with Lifesong for Orphans, conducting a VBS and activity program at the Lifesong orphan camp, as well as landscaping or a project at the camp berry farm.

Trinidad July 9– 16, 2016

Team Size: 20

Mission Description: We served with the Santa Rosa Evangelical Baptist Church, east of Arima, Trinidad, helping with VBS and other evangelistic projects.

New York City July 16– 23, 2016  

Team Leader: Elizabeth Sheffield

Mission Description: Come to New York City to share God's story in a city that needs Him desperately. Participants are trained using curriculum designed to help communicate the Gospel story with their families, neighbors, and co-workers. Days begin with worship and prayer. You will be place in small groups and assigned a seasoned leader dedicated to guiding you through NYC. Outreach takes place via soccer and basketball camps, VBS, street and parks ministries, soup kitchens, rescue ministries, city shelters, rehab centers, prayer walks and stations. At the end of the day, teams gather for a time of worship, prayer and debriefing.

India - States of Assam  February 4– 14, 2015  

Mission description: Visit unreached villages to show the JESUS film

Guatemala - Antigua  May 16 – 23, 2015  

Mission description: The teams mission will be to share the gospel of Jesus Christ within neighborhoods, churches and schools, using VBS-style activities for the children and discussions with the adults as food bags are given to each family. Another objective of the team will be to encourage local pastors, their congregations and other ministries in an effort to strengthen relationships.

New York City  July 19-25, 2015  

Mission description: Take the gospel where there is a representation of many of the world's people groups. Youth will be trained in evangelism & given opportunities to share their faith. NYSUM (New York School of Urban Missions) provides a variety of ways to accomplish goals through training sessions, Jewish Friendship Evangelism, street meetings, conducting worship services, homeless ministries, prayer walks, prayer stations and the "glory trains" utilizing our talented musical youth at NSBC.

Mission description: Reaching out to the Ahom people group, through Bible teaching, targeting various age groups in villages and in the city of Dibrugarh, Assam State sharing personal testimonies and showing the Jesus film.
